Meet Mick Cousins — Builder, Coach, Mentor.

“35 years of experience building across Victoria, Queensland, and NSW — now helping Northern Rivers homeowners plan bathrooms right.”

Mick Cousins has spent over three decades in the building industry — from carpentry in Victoria to large-scale construction across Queensland and NSW. For the past 9 years, he’s been based in the Northern Rivers, where he’s built premium bathrooms through Byron Bay Renovations. Today, Mick shares the same proven process he’s refined over decades, helping homeowners take control of their own bathroom projects with confidence and professional guidance.

Architect Drawing Blueprint

From Builder to Coach

Mick’s story began in Korumburra, Victoria, where a simple work experience project sparked a lifelong passion for construction.
After completing his apprenticeship, he worked across the building industry — from structural and maintenance work to high-end renovations and CAD design.

Over time, he realised that the best projects always came from homeowners who understood the process. That insight led him to create Byron Bay Bathroom Coach — turning decades of building knowledge into a clear framework that empowers homeowners to manage their own bathroom renovations with confidence.

Life in Byron Bay

When Mick and his family moved to Byron Bay, it wasn’t just for lifestyle — it was about alignment.
The region’s focus on community, sustainability, and design innovation inspired him to pursue Passive House certification, deepening his commitment to quality and energy-efficient design.

When he’s not working with clients, Mick can be found on the water, at the local surf club, or refining new tools to make the renovation process simpler for Byron Bay homeowners.
